From August 15 to August 25 in the village of T. Ryskulov, Tulkubas region, South Kazakhstan region, the Championship of Kazakhstan among Seniors and Senoritas will be held, it’s dedicated to the 80th anniversary of academician Orazbek Kaldybaev. Participants of the tournament, who took 1st and 2nd places, will get the right to participate in the World and Asian Championships.
According to FIDE rules, competitions are held in two age categories for men and women from 50 to 65 years old and over 65 years of age. 50-65 years men and women 1968-53 years of birth are allowed to participate in the tournament. In the category older than 65 – 1952 year of birth and older. There must be an application, certified by the seals of the Local State Sports Body and the corresponding medical and Exercise Therapy Centre or the admission of participants to the competition.
Participants, who took 1-3 places, are awarded with medals, diplomas and prizes. The total prize fund is 1 350 000 tenge.
According to the results of the championship, participants who are eligible to participate in the following competitions are determined:
- personal world championship in standard chess among seniors, who took 1st place in tournaments 50-65 years and older;
- personal championship of Asia in standard chess among seniors, who took 2d place in tournaments 50-65 years and older;
- personal world championship in standard chess among senoritas, who took 1st place in tournaments 50-65 years and older;
- personal championship of Asia in standard chess among senoritas, who took 2d place in tournaments 50-65 years and older.
Competitions are held on an adjustable Swiss system in 9 rounds. If the number of participants does not exceed 10 people, the tournament will be held on a circular system. If there are insufficient number of women, they can be admitted to tournaments among men.
Preliminary applications are accepted until August 5, 2018.
The organizers of the tournament are the Kazakhstan Chess Federation (KFSh), the Chess Federation “Ontustik” («Оңтүстік») of the South Kazakhstan region and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Responsibility for health care and safety equipment is assigned to the Physical Training and Sports Administration of the SKO.
