WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FOR RAPID AND BLITZ WILL BE HELD IN ST. PETERSBURG

From December 25 to December 31, 2018, the World Championship in Rapid and Blitz among men and women will take place in St. Petersburg.

Men’s Rapid games will be held on the Swiss system in 15 rounds, women’s – in 12. Blitz games will also be played on the Swiss system in 21 rounds for men and in 17 rounds for the fair sex.

Tournament schedule:
For men:

December 26, 3:00 pm – Rapid, 1-5 tours
December 27, 3:00 pm – Rapid, 6-10 tours
December 28, 3:00 pm – Rapid, 11-15 tours
December 29, 3:00 pm – blitz, 1-12 rounds
December 30, 2:00 pm – blitz, 13-21 rounds

For women:

December 26, 3:00 pm – Rapid, 1-4 rounds
December 27, 3:00 pm – Rapid, 5-8 rounds
December 28, 3:00 pm – Rapid, 9-12 tours
December 29, 3:00 pm – blitz, 1-9 rounds
December 30, 2:00 pm – blitz, 10-17 rounds

More than 300 chess players from 37 countries will take part in the championship, competing for a prize pool of almost $ 2 million.

The structure of the men’s national team in the Championship will include 3 chess players:
– Rinat Dzhumabaev, ELO rating – 2602
– Murtas Kazhgaleev, ELO rating – 2587
– Rustam Khusnutdinov, ELO rating – 2470

The women’s team will also be represented by three athletes:

– Dinara Saduakasova, ELO rating – 2472
– Zhansaya Abdumalik, ELO rating – 2470
– Guliskhan Nakhbaeva, ELO rating – 2371
