PARTICIPANTS OF THE FIDE ARBITRATORS SEMINAR

The winners of the second and final stage of the Competition for participation in the FIDE Arbitrators Seminar are determined. A total of 21 applications were submitted from 12 cities and regions of the country. From the 12 people who passed the first round of selection, only seven Chess Judges passed the interview.

The contest was held in 2 stages: on the 1st stage Applications have been considered, on the 2d (22-24 June) candidates passed an interview via Skype. According to the results of the competition, seven winners will have the opportunity to take part in the FIDE Arbitrators Seminar. КCF will incur expenses for the full travel of participants for the period of training (travel, accommodation, meals, and payment of a fee for the Seminar).

The Seminar will be conducted by an International Arbitrator, Chairman of the FIDE Rules Commission – Ashot Vardapetyan (Armenia). Persons, successfully passed a Seminar and tests, will receive norm for assignment of a rank «FIDE Arbitrator».

ASTANA OPEN – 2018: HALFWAY

In Astana, a grand festival – Astana Open – 2018 is being held. While adult chess players are preparing for the 1st stage of the Cup of Kazakhstan, 312 young palyers under 10 and 14 years old are fighting to enter the next 4th round of the country’s Cup.

Thus, in the age group under 10 years old, Asanali Zhanabayev (Pavlodar Region) scored 6 points following 6 rounds. He is followed by four chess players from Astana at once! Alimzhan Amirkul and Rustem Djumagulov are also in the top three.

In the age group under14 years old, following 5 rounds, the first place is also occupied by another representative of the Pavlodar region – Nathan Kertayev. In this subgroup after the leader there are palyers from Almaty – Zhangir Bizhigitov and Ilyas Sabitov.

DETAILED INFORMATION

In the tournament of the international master “Astana Masters”, the three leaders are as follows. In the first place – candidate master, Arystanbek Urazayev from Aktobe Region, the second place – international master Baurzhan Kasimov from Karaganda, the third place – the international grandmaster Vitaly Sivuk from Ukraine.
In the team tournament, the chess players from “ASTANA” Central Chess Club are leading – 17,5 points out of 20, the second place – Astana-1 team (15 points) and the third place – players of Gulishkhan Nakhbayeva Chess School (Shymkent), who also scored 15 points.

RESULTS OF 1st STAGE OF THE COMPETITION AMONG ARBITRATORS

The 1st stage of the competition for participation in the Seminar of FIDE arbitrators has come to an end. A total of 21 applications were submitted from 12 cities and regions of the country. Of these, 13 people passed the first round.

Applicants, who do not pass the 2nd stage, will be eligible to participate in the training without making a contribution.

The Seminar is conducted by an International arbitrator – Chairman of the FIDE Rules Commission – Ashot Vardapetyan (Armenia). Persons, who successfully pass a Seminar and tests, will receive norm for assignment of a rank «FIDE arbitrator». The Seminar of arbitrators will be held from 1 to 4 July 2018 in Astana during the Chess Festival «Astana Open».

START “ASTANA OPEN 2018”

The international chess festival ASTANA OPEN 2018 has started in the capital city of Kazakhstan. The biggest intrigue of this holiday of intelligence are the 1st stage of the Kazakhstan Adult’s and the 3rd stage of the Children’s Cup. The total prize fund of the festival is 6,250,000 tenge.

As part of this awesome sports event, the following tournaments will be held from June 17 to July 4:

June 17-25 – tournament with players having achieved the norm of the international master Astana Masters,

June 17-25 – Astana Open-B (3rd stage of the Kazakhstan Children’s Chess Cup among players up to 14 years),

June 17-25 – Astana Open-B (3rd stage of the Kazakhstan Children’s Chess Cup among players up to 10 years),

June 26 – Astana Open-blitz (blitz tournament),

June 27 – July 3 – Astana Open-A (1st stage of the Kazakhstan Adult’s Chess Cup).

In order to improve the skills of chess referees from Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Chess Federation has invited the international referee Ashot Vardapetyan, who will hold a FIDE seminar on July 1 – 4.

All tournaments are held according to FIDE rules. Following the results of the festival, candidates will be chosen to participate in the finals of the Kazakhstan Adult’s and Children’s Chess Cups in 2018.

This competition is traditional and has been held for seven years already. The festival is one of the most important stages in the preparation of men’s, women’s and children’s and youth teams before the world championships.

According to preliminary data, about 450 sportsmen from Kazakhstan and the near-abroad countries will take part in the tournament.

The chief referee of the Kazakhstan Adult’s Cup is the FIDE referee, Dias Isabaev,

The chief referee of the Kazakhstan Children’s Cup is the international referee, Oleg Rinas.

Cheating control will be provided in strict accordance with the requirements of the FIDE Anti-Cheating Rules with a standard level of protection.

RESULTS OF THE 2ST STAGE OF THE KAZAKHSTAN CHILDREN’S CHESS CUP

The second stage of the Kazakhstan Children’s Chess Cup named after «Anatoly Gavrilovich Ufimtsev – 2018» has come to its finish line in Kostanay. As expected, the competition was full of intrigue and uncertainty in relation to finalists up to the final game.
97 contestants took part in the rapid tournament А among children under 10 years of age. A contestant from Astana Alikhan Belzhanov (Elo rating – 1468), participating under the number “1”, has taken the lead and won the gold medal. The silver medal was won by the Alan Petukhov from Aktobe (1366), who improved his rating performance by 14 points. Both chess players scored 8 points out of 9 possible.

The third place and the bronze medal was given to the chess player from the South Kazakhstan region Isakhan Bekbergen (1413) with his 7 points. The best female chess player of the tournament was the only girl in the top 10 of the tournament leaders – Dana Kazhenova from Astana, who scored 6.5 points. Table of final results: download.
In tournament B – among children under the age of 14 (78 participants), 7 points out of 9 possible were scored by five chess players at once! However, on the basis of additional indicators, the fortune distributed these chess players in the following order. Two chess players from Pavlodar at once celebrated their victory: Mikhail Egorov was awarded with the gold medal (1916) and the silver medal was given to Vladislav Malygin (1705). The honorable third place with the bronze medal was given to the participant from Kyzylorda Sultan Amanzhol (1855). The title of the best female chess player of the tournament was given to Lia Kurmangaliyeva from Almaty (1691). Table of final results: download.
In the Tournament С – rating among 25 participants, now it was the tournament hosts’ turn to triumph: Nurlan Tleubayev (2233) literally pulled out the victory and the gold medal in the last round from the hands of his compatriot Timur Nurzhanov (2272), who received a silver medal. The bronze medal went to a chess player from Shymkent Ardak Kanayev (2044). Such great chess players as the international master Murat Zhunusov (Taldykorgan), the candidate master Satbek Ahmedinov (Astana) and the female master of the FIDE (World Chess Federation) Gulnar Balakanova (Ekibastuz), who was recognised as the best female chess player of the tournament, took part in this tournament. Nurlan Tleubaev came out well in the blitz tournament too, which took place on May 8 for all comers. The golden double allowed the citizen of Kostanay to rise in the FIDE rating by 7 points. Satbek Ahmadinov took the second place and the silver medal, the international master from Uzbekistan Talgat Gubaidulin (2322) won the third place and the bronze medal. Three teams at once finished the Tournament D with 25.5 points. According to additional indicators, chess players from Pavlodar won the gold medal in the tournament, the silver medal was given to the team from Kyzylorda, the bronze medal – to the first-string team from Astana. Within the framework of the Memorial, a simultaneous game of chess was organized on 20 boards with the grandmaster Petr Kostenko.

The third stage of the Kazakhstan Children’s Chess Cup starts already early next week, on June 18 in Astana.

START OF THE 2 STAGE OF THE CHILD’S COUNTRY CUP

The second stage of the Kazakhstan Children’s Chess Cup named after «Anatoly Gavrilovich Ufimtsev – 2018» started in Kostanay. The competition gathered nearly 200 athletes from all regions of the country.

Within the framework of the Memorial, there are four competitions:

  • Tournament А – among children under 10 years old (94 participants),
  • Tournament В – among children under 14 years old (81),
  • Tournament С – rating (21),
  • Tournament D — command.

In their speeches at the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Children’s Cup of Kazakhstan, the Vice-President of the Kostanay Regional Chess Federation – Valery Vishnichenko and the representative of the Regional Sports Committee – Dmitry Gryaznoy welcomed the participants and wished them victory.

During the Memorial the following activities are also planned:
8 May – blit-tournament for all comers,
10 May – a simultaneous game on 20 boards with Grandmaster – Peter Kostenko.

The main Arbiter of the competition – Pavel Rusanov.

The second stage of the Children’s Cup of the country will end on May 12th.

DETAILED INFORMATION

Anatoly Gavrilovich Ufimtsev was born in Omsk. At 10 years he took 2nd place in the city tournament among adults. And in 3 years, in the All-Siberian Chess Tournament of adults (Novosibirsk city), he scored 10 out of 10 possible points. During the war, he served as a military geodesist and participated in the compilation of a single geodetic network of the USSR, and then – Atlas of Kostanay region. Since 1945 he worked in Kostanay as an Eonomist, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Department of the regional executive committee. He always tried to combine his work with chess. In 1946 in the semifinals of the USSR Championship in Tbilisi Anatoly Gavrilovich took the first place. In 1945, at a meeting of the Higher Attestation Commission of the USSR Chess Federation, the protection system developed by Anatoly Gavrilovich was named as “Protection of Ufimtsev”. Anatoly Gavrilovich Ufimtsev was also awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen of the City of Kostanay”. His name was awarded to the Kostanay Chess Club. On May 11th, he would be 104 years old.
