2018 ARALBAY MAKHAMBETOV MEMORIAL

From May 20 to 26, Kyzylorda will host the 1st stage of the Children’s Chess Cup of Kazakhstan “2018 Aralbay Izbasarovich Makhambetov Memorial”.

APPLICATION FOR PARTICIPATION

The Aralbay Makhambetov Memorial consists of 5 main tournaments:

  1. Blitz tournament with FIDE rating (no age limit, at least Class 2)
  2. Tournament A – an open tournament with FIDE rating (no age limit, at least Class 1)
  3. Tournament B – stage I of the Children’s Chess Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan up to the age of 14 (at least Class 3),
  4. Tournament C – stage I of the Children’s Chess Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan up to the age of 10 (at least Class 4),
  5. Tournament D – a team tournament.

A guaranteed prize pool of KZT 350,000 has been established for tournament A and the blitz tournament. Additional prize money and valuable prizes are provided. All participants taking winning places will be awarded with medals, diplomas.

The chief judge of the tournament is FIDE arbiter Vasiliy Shimelkov.

10 players from each region and 15 players from each of the cities of Republican significance – Astana and Almaty – can participate in the tournament. 40 players are admitted from Kyzylorda region.

Aralbay Makhambetov is a statesman, Kyzylorda enthusiast and promoter of chess who attended the games of Mikhail Botvinnik, Boris Spassky, Tigran Petrosyan and other famous grandmasters of the USSR. He tried to instill his love for the game in his four children by teaching them how to play this ancient game.
