Timur Turlov was elected the President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation
The recent Congress of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation in Astana has elected Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp., as the new President. Darmen Sadvakassov will be the First Vice-President of the Federation. Galim Khussainov, the ex-President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, has left the presidency and moved to the Board of Trustees.
The Congress was attended by Askhat Oralov, the Minister of Culture of Sports RK, who presented awards to the distinguished athletes, coaches and organizers.
The chess players Bibisara Assaubayeva, two-time world blitz champion, Dinara Saduakasova, vice-world champion, Zhansaya Abdumalik, the leader of the Kazakhstan women’s team, and Rinat Jumabayev, the strongest chess player of the national team, Asian men’s blitz champion, were awarded the Order “Zhenis.”
Galim Khussainov, ex-President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation (moved to the Federation’s Board of Trustees), Ruslan Iskakov, ex-Vice President of the Federation (member of the Presidium), and vice-president Ablai Tastambekov were awarded the Order “Dara.”
The Minister noted that chess sport is under the special control of the Head of State and informed that the Chess Development Roadmap was issued.
“I want to express my gratitude to the managers of the Republican Federation and its regional branches for their input in the development and propagation of this sport and wish them success and new achievements,” concluded the Minister.
