ZHANDOS AGMANOV AND AMINA KAIRBEKOVA ARE KAZAKHSTAN’S CHESS CHAMPIONS

In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the Kazakhstan Classic Chess Championship, Rapid and Blitz Championship among boys and girls under 20 came to an end. The representatives of the capital’s chess school Zhandos Agmanov, who won bronze and silver in blitz and in rapid tournament, and Amina Kairbekova, who reinforced her result with bronze in rapid tournament became the champions in the classic chess. 87 chess players took part in the tournament with a prize fund of 600,000 tenge.

“Victory at the Youth Championship is definitely a big breakthrough,” Zhandos admits, “but this is only the first step towards more responsible tournaments. To show all my strength at the World Championships under 20 is now my new challenge.”

The representative of Kyzylorda Sultan Amanzhol took the second place in the men’s classics, Temirlan Bekturov from Pavlodar region got the bronze medal. Nurgali Nazerke from Kyzylorda region took the second place in classical and fast chess of the women’s section, chessplayer from Shymkent Zeynep Sultanbek won bronze.

“The winners of the Championship in the classics will receive the right to participate in the final of the Championship of the Republic, as well as in the personal World Championship in classical chess under 20. Participants who took second place in classic chess will be eligible to participate in the Asian Personal Chess Championship U20,” concluded Executive Director of the Chess Federation Irina Grishchenko.

Ramazan Zhalmakhanov became the rapid champion in the Open section, Assel Serikbay demonstarted the best result in rapid chess among women. Arystan Isanzhulov became the champion in blitz among men, Nazerke Nuragli became the champion in blitz in the women’s section.

Let us recall that 54 young men and 33 girls, including the Champions of Kazakhstan of 2018 under 20, champions of regions and cities of the national importance of 2019 under 20, as well as chess players with an international rating of at least 2000 ELO as of February 1, 2019 participated in the tournament.
