Kazakhstan Chess Federation invites GMs, IMs, WIGs and WIMs to participate in the Final of the II (Second) Republican Online Open Tournament “Almaty Online Chess Festival 2020” on the platforf on 30th of September 2020 at 14:00 (Almaty time, Kazakhstan). The total Prize Fund of the competition is 800,000 tenge (1’875 US$).

Tournament’s regulation: the tournament is held online on the platform according to the Swiss regular system in 9 rounds. Time control is 10 minutes + 2 seconds for each move, starting from the first one.

Participants of the final must join the “Almaty Chess Festival Final” club on the platform by sending a request. In addition, the participants can add themselves via the tab “play”-“tournaments”-“future”-“FINAL – II Almaty Chess Festival”. Tournament’s link is

ZOOM requirements: The final will be held with the participants monitoring in the Zoom video conference. Players should log in to Zoom from 13:00 till 13:45 on 30th of September 2020 (Almaty time, Kazakhstan). Each participant must connect to the Zoom video conference installed on a mobile device with enabled video and audio communications. The camera must be set up so that the computer monitor and the participant can be seen. The participant’s name in Zoom must match with his/her username in If the username is King123, then the name in Zoom must also be King123. Please note, that the Anti-cheating commission will be involved during the tournament. According to the Anti-cheating commission’s decision, a participant who uses hints (cheater) will be eliminated from the tournament. The Anti-cheating Commission’s decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Only the best 120 participants of the qualifying stage will be able to take part in the final. In addition, the first 40 registered participants will be able to take part in the final, including 20 participants from the Republic of Kazakhstan and 20 participants from abroad with the titles of GMs, IMs, WIGs and WIMs.

GM Ilya Smirin (Israel), GM Alexander Fier (Brazil), GM Kirill Stupak (Belarus), GM Nodirbek Yakubboyev (Uzbekistan) and WGM Olga Babiy (Ukraine), as well as Kazakhstani GM Pavel Kotsur,  GM Petr Kostenko, WGM Elena Ankudinova and others, confirmed their participation in the tournament’s final.

A live broadcast of the final of the II Republican online open tournament “Almaty Online Chess Festival 2020” will be hosted on the YouTube channel of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation Sport commentator, International arbiter Sergey Kim will comment the tournament during the live broadcast.

The cash prizes will be transferred to the Bank accounts of the winners or their legal representatives. The winners must email their Bank details to Taxes will be deducted from the prizes in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The prizes are not divided and are awarded according to the place taken in the final standing. One participant can receive only one prize with the highest value.

The II (Second) Republican tournament is held as part of the online tournaments “Almaty Online Chess Festival 2020”, held from September to December 2020, with a total Prize Fund of 4.8 million tenge (11’250 US$). The event has been organized by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation together with the Almaty City Sports Department and supported by the Almaty City Administration. The competitions are included in the official calendar of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) events
