The World Chess Championship 2015 among people with reduced capabilities started in Dresden
Kazakhstan chess player, repeat winner of international competitions, Bolat Kasyanov, took part in the World Championship.

World Chess Championship for Disabled 2015 started with the Opening Ceremony in the Philharmonic Hall in the Windham Garden Dresden hotel at 19.00 in October 17, 2015.
The championship has brought together 67 participants from 14 national federations to participate in the individual competition. 14 teams will compete for the title of World Champion in the Team World Chess Championship among people with reduced capabilities. The World Championship in Dresden is held for the second time and organised by ZMDI Schachfestival Dresden e.V.
The opening ceremony started with a welcome speech of the President of ZMDI Schachfestival Dresden e.V. Dr. Dirk Joran. He welcomed all the participants and guests of the championship, thanked everyone who provided support in the organization and holding the tournament and wished the participants a good luck and victories.
The opening ceremony of the championship was visited by the following guests: Prime Minister of Saxony, Dr. Stanislav Tilik, the mayor of the city of Dresden, Dr. Peter Lams, the President of the Chess Federation of Germany Mr. Herbert Bastian, the Chairman of the FIDE Committee for the Disabled, Mr. Thomas Luther and FIDE Executive Director Mr. Nigel Freeman.
The participants of the championship enjoyed the performance presented by children with the flags of the federations participating in the Championships in Dresden.
The 1st round of the World Chess Championship for Disabled will start tomorrow, in October 18, 2015 at 9.30.
