Dear chess fans!

Kazakhstan chess Federation invites everyone to take part in the II Republican online open tournament “Almaty Online Chess Festival 2020”.

II Republican online open tournament consists of the qualifying stage (September 27th  2020) and the final (September 30th 2020). The total prize Fund of the competition is 800,000 tenge. The qualifying stage of the II Republican online open tournament will be held on September 27 at 14:00 (Almaty time, Kazakhstan).

Tournament is open to citizens of Kazakhstan and foreign citizens regardless of their professional or amateur status, age, ability, gender, sex or other categorization.

Rules: the tournament is held online on a chess platform Chess.com according to the regulated Swiss system in 9 rounds. Time control: 10 minutes + 2 seconds for each move, starting from the first one.

To participate in the competition, you must join the chess club “Almaty Chess Festival” (link https://www.chess.com/club/almaty-chess-festival) on the website chess.com. In this case, each player must have an official username on chess.com matching with his name. Further required to submit an application (with the scanned copies of passports/identity cards and personal photos, allowing to identify the identity of the participant and the number of mobile phone with whatsapp) and to email at play@kazchess.kz. 

Important: applications for participation in the qualifying tournament will be accepted till 10:00 on September 27th 2020. Joining the qualifying tournament on September 27th starts from 13:00 till 14:00. A pre-registered participant must join the competition within 1 hour using the link to the tournament https://www.chess.com/live#t=1584167 at the Almaty Chess Festival club. In addition, you can add yourself via the “play “tab-“tournaments”-“future”-“II Almaty Chess Festival”. Playing on a gaming platform chess.com it will start automatically at 14:00 (Almaty time, Kazakhstan). Please don`t be late! The selection stage is held without monitoring participants in the Zoom video conference.

The final of the II Republican online tournament will be held on September 30th at 14:00 (Almaty time, Kazakhstan). Participants of the final must join the new club “Almaty Chess Festival Final” on the gaming platform chess.com by link https://www.chess.com/club/almaty-chess-festival-final by sending a request. In addition, you can add yourself via the “play”tab-“tournaments”-“future”-“FINAL – II Almaty Chess Festival”. Tournament link: FINAL-II Almaty Chess Festival – will be in the profile of the final club.

The final will be held with monitoring of participants in the Zoom video conference. From 13.00 to 13.45 on September 30th 2020, each participant in the final must connect to the Zoom video conference installed on a mobile device with video and audio communication enabled. The camera must be set up so that the computer monitor and the participant can be seen. The participant’s name in Zoom must match with username in Chess.com. If the username is King123, then the name in Zoom must also be King123. Zoom link: https://zoom.us/my/kazakhstanchess ID: 5457224730 (login without password, with the permission of the organizer).

Please note, that the tournament will involve an Anti-cheating commission. According to the decision of the Anti-cheat commission, a participant who uses hints (cheater) will be excluded from the tournament. The decisions of the Anti-cheating Commission are final and cannot be appealed.

Cash prizes will be transferred to the Bank account of winners or their legal representatives. Winners must send their Bank details to email: play@kazchess.kz. Taxes will be deducted from prizes in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Prizes are not divided and are awarded according to the place taken in the final standings. A participant can only receive one prize of the highest value.

We remind you that the II (second) Republican tournament is held as part of the online competitions “Almaty Online Chess Festival”, held from September to December 2020, with a total Prize Fund of 4.8 million tenge. The event was organized by the Kazakhstan chess Federation together with the Almaty city sports Department and supported by Almaty city Administration.
